Homework Assignment- Getting Personal with Art

by Melanie, August 27, 2010
Our favorite thing about art is that the more personal it is, the more value it holds in our eyes. (Art is in the eye of the beholder, right?) Family photography or your kid’s art can be a great way to personalize your home. Now that school is back in session, your kids are going to start bringing their art home. Try framing your children’s artwork in a funky frame. It will bring out the colors of the art and add interest to the piece. A grouping of children’s art would look so cute in a kitchen, lower level family room, or kids bedrooms.

It’s probably a blessing that expensive family portraits aren’t the rave these days. Photography is the new family portraiture and we love Arlington photographer Julie Monticello! Specializing in family photography, she captures the most intimate and personal moments in her photo shoot. We love framing photography in unique ways because it creates a truly personal work of art! Try displaying a collection of family photography as a central focus of a room. Keep the look consistent by using the same frame, but try a little variety in the color and shape of the mats. The result will be a beautiful art collection reflecting the personality of your family.
