Day 7: Winter Wonderland for Designers

by Melanie, December 7, 2014

Our office holiday celebration this year included a field trip to one of our favorite retailers:  Terrain.  At this time of year, their store outside of Philadelphia is a wonderland of fabulous Christmas decor — indoor and out.

Behold some of the wonder — and keep scrolling to view some of our designer favorites:

An abundance of wreath options displayed on the porch outside.
Hanging spheres made festive with greenery, pinecones and berries.
The scent of pine and eucalyptus lingers all around.
The Meridian Sphere is a fun way to keep your planters lively until growing season resumes.
Birch logs awaiting their design destiny.
(Spoiler Alert:  Kelly picked a pair.)

And when you step inside, the holiday magic is everywhere…

A mushroom themed tree.
Organic garlands, metallic ornaments and sparkling lights make a fabulous mix.
Metallic ribbon as garland.
(Spoiler Alert:  Kate took a shine to this stuff.)
Loving these dainty string lights hanging from the ceiling.  Keep scrolling for more fun uses….
(Spoiler Alert:  Angie likes them wrapped around a sphere.)
Or you can wrap them around branches.
Ornaments galore (check out the wall made of those birch logs from outside).
Garlands galore.
And so many great ways to use their hurricanes, seen here filled with miniature trees.
(Spoiler Alert:  Lisa likes hers filled with battery operated lights).

We shopped, we ate, and then we shopped some more.

Refueling in the cafe with some delicious food (and our photographer friend Helen).
A little post-lunch latte and some smiles before we hit the shop again.

Here are a few of our favorite things…

Kelly loves the iron spheres filled with garden trimmings and a pair of those gorgeous birch limbs:

Angie loves those sphere structures too, but she’ll take the hanging ones wrapped with lights:

Kate is all about the metallic ribbon (which coordinates nicely with her metallic vegan leather jacket):

Lisa likes the sconces and hurricanes filled with lights:
And Mel fell for this gorgeous tribute to trees:
The Life and Love of Trees by Lewis Blackwell

We had a great time, as you can tell.

The creativity of the arrangements around the property was very inspirational.  Just the thing to get the design juices flowing.  We’ll go straight to work decorating our houses for Christmas once we get back home with all of our goodies.

Thanks for the dose of Christmas inspiration Terrain!
